'The Stone and The Hollow' is the new track from London based singer songwriter Daniel James. It follows the release of his debut track 'Jackdraw' earlier in the year. Daniel, who is from Northern Ireland, said about the track that "it was inspired by memories of walks around Belfast Lough and how that felt different to the new London landscape I found myself in. Time to think and ponder on new and old relationships alike, all compounded by the differing sense of space I felt."
The track is sparse, with James singing around a simple beat, piano loop, and acoustic guitar, but this only helps to shine the focus upon his vocals and lyrics which are the clear stand out. His voice is definitive and carries a poignancy that enforces the themes behind his words. Think a more sprightly James Blake cross between a slightly more downbeat Benjamin Francis Leftwich, cut across Alt-J beats. One to certainly look out for this year.
