Released next week through Wichita is the third album from Los Angeles punk rockers, The Bronx. As with their previous two albums the record is self titled, and as such is being refered to as "III".
The Bronx are a gritty, rough sounding vehicle that will attack your eardrums given the chance. Their debut album was recorded with the band playing near enough live, with only a couple of tracks requiring more than one take to nail down. It was on the live scene where the band made an impression on the undergound with some chaotic performances, but it is only now that waves are being made on a larger scale.
The Bronx sound typically consists of guitars which are distorted and driven by wicked riffs and the pounding, intense drums of Jorma Vik. All that is pinned together by vocalist Matt Caughthran, who has a distinctive rough sounding voice that is strangely addictive.
[P.S] - Just a reminder to vote in the latest Music Liberation poll in the right hand corner. You get to vote on which blog you think can destroy all others! (Not that I feel sorry for myself but some more votes for ML would be nice!).
Gotta love The Bronx. I was fighting to get review tix for their UK shows recently. Ended up missing out on them, and I was kicking myself.
